Which blend space?
The same two colours can give different middles depending on how they are mixed.
sRGB
The classic CSS blend. Fast and predictable, but the middle of some pairs turns grey or muddy.
OKLab
Mixes by how we perceive colour. Steps look even and lightness changes smoothly. A good default.
OKLCH
Travels around the colour wheel, so blends stay vivid. Great for rainbows, less so for calm palettes.
HSL
Also goes around the wheel but with uneven lightness. Handy when you want a hue sweep.
